Titanium Dioxide?

Horrible ingredient to put on your skin. Also has nanoparticles.

Titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is widely used in cosmetics, especially in colour cosmetics and SPF formulations, for its ability to provide sun protection, brightness, and coverage. It's generally considered non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin. That said, we know it's a topic that brings up valid questions, and we appreciate the opportunity to share more about it.

As a retailer of multiple clean beauty brands, we carry a variety of formulations, and each brand may use titanium dioxide differently, in varying percentages and forms. Most often, the ingredient appears in liquid or cream-based products, which don’t carry the same health concerns as airborne loose powders or sprays, where inhalation is the main point of caution. If you’re looking for products that provide coverage without this ingredient, or without it in powder form, we’d be more than happy to help you find options that align with your preferences.

We also want to gently share a note regarding fruit-pigmented cosmetics, which some customers look to as an alternative. While they may sound like a clean swap, these ingredients are currently not approved for use in colour cosmetics by the FDA in the United States, and with the new MOCRA legislation, many brands are having to reformulate or move away from them altogether. Ingredient regulations and safety can be surprisingly complex, and there are many layers that go into how a formula is created and approved, both from a health perspective and a legal one.

You may have also seen that the European Union banned titanium dioxide as a food additive. That decision was based on concerns around long-term ingestion, not topical use. In cosmetics, titanium dioxide continues to be permitted, and is widely regarded as safe, especially when used in non-nano form in creams or pressed products.

From our ongoing research, including reviewing studies and perspectives on both sides, we feel that titanium dioxide is safe to use in cosmetics, particularly in pressed or liquid form. Where caution comes in is with loose powders, and we believe that choice comes down to personal comfort. For anyone who prefers to avoid that format, we support that 100% and can always help you find alternatives.

Best face powder ever!

Nothing compares to this amazing weightless, undetectable face powder. It has this magical ability to take away any shine without looking like you have any makeup on at all! It is absolute perfection! Please never discontinue this powder! It is the best ever and I have tried so so many over the years. The White Peach is my favorite but always out of stock.

Wonderful product

I love this powder foundation. I have light skin and freckles and this powder covers my redness, evens my skin tone but isn’t heavy. You can build coverage and I use it over my Sappho foundation!

Best powder

I love the soft lightweight feel of this powder. The coverage, to me, is light but can be buildable to a more medium coverage. It sets beautifully and never settles in creases. I have purchased multiple times. There’s a bit of an SPF in there too! Bonus.
